On November 4, the 74th meeting of the Executive Council of the European Audiovisual Observatory took place in Strasbourg, with Valentyn Koval, First Deputy Chair of the National Council, taking part.
At the meeting, the Observatory’s annual report for 2025 was approved, and the budget and key areas of activity for 2026 were defined. The members of the Executive Council also discussed the next steps for cooperation among the participating countries, particularly regarding data exchange, market trends monitoring, and the expansion of research initiatives.

The National Council’s participation in the work of the Executive Council helps strengthen ties with European regulators and researchers of the audiovisual sector, facilitates the exchange of experience in media legislation, and presents to international partners the Ukrainian media context operating under wartime conditions.

The European Audiovisual Observatory is an organization of the Council of Europe that brings together representatives of member states to exchange analytical information on the state and development of the audiovisual sector across the continent. Ukraine became a member of the European Audiovisual Observatory on June 19 this year. Since then, the National Council, as the regulatory authority, has represented the country in the activities of this organization. Participation in this organization makes it possible to closely monitor innovations in European media legislation and their implementation in the EU, as well as to work on improving Ukraine’s legislative framework by incorporating European standards into national law.
