A working meeting was held between Olha Herasymiuk, Chair of the National Council, and the State Language Protection Commissioner

The National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting and the Office of the State Language Protection Commissioner are strengthening cooperation to ensure the proper functioning of the Ukrainian language in the media space. On October 9, a working meeting took place between Olha Herasymiuk, Chair of the regulator, and the State Language Protection Commissioner Olena Ivanovska.

During the conversation, Olha Herasymiuk and Olena Ivanovska discussed trends in the development of language use in various spheres of public life, in particular the introduction of sign language in the media, and the importance of systematic interaction on issues of compliance with language legislation in the media sector. They agreed on joint information and educational activities and further cooperation.

It should be recalled that the Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Language Protection Commissioner and the National Council was signed on December 17, 2020. The document contributes to strengthening the state‑building role of the Ukrainian language, protecting citizens’ rights to receive information in the state language, as well as eliminating obstacles and restrictions to its use.
